The second event of the # local2European series – on the subject of Woman, held on Saturday, February 23rd in the Seminar Room of the Rhodes Aquarium, brought the woman into the discussion. The event was organized by the House of Europe in Rhodes in collaboration with the European Center for Europe’s Robert Schuman (France) and the D.D.’s Europe Direct Dodecanese Information Center.
It was an amazing discussion, led by Haroula Yassirani and attended by Anna Kalamata, Katia Kanari-Kalligerou, Maria Triantafyllopoulou and Eleftheria-Paraskevi Ftaklaki, answering the questions posed by the audience. CVs of the participants
Haroula Yasirani. Representative Regional Adviser of the South Aegean Region on Education, Volunteer and European Programs and President of VTC Genimatas. Ms Yasirani is one of the most active members of the local community: chair of school committees, president of Parents and Guardians Associations at all levels, president of the Rhodes Parents Association, past elected councilor and now Regional, founding member and President of Women Without Borders and one of the most prominent people in our country in the fight against violence against women and the development and operation of relevant structures.
Anna Kalamata. As a student, she was elected President of the Adolescent Eurovision in Strasbourg in the spring of 2016. She is a student at the Aegean University School of Humanities. She is the Ambassador of the European Parliament’s Together Program of Socialists and Democrats, where through the organization of Together Events and Go Local Events, small and large European cities and their special character are promoted and highlighted in areas such as culture, tourism, international relations, entrepreneurship and innovative ideas of local young people.
Recently, she was elected as a member of the European Commission’s Young Multipliers body, which aims to inform and promote European elections. She has participated in many European programs, such as the European Youth Event, selected by Hellenic Youth Participation, as a leader in the Erasmus Plus program “The Awareness”, as a participant in the Erasmus program “READ IT” and in MUN simulations.
Katia Kanari-Kalligerou. She was born in Corfu graduated from the Gymnasium in Athens, the Greek School and the High School in France. He studied Italian Literature at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Translation at the Italian Institute of Thessaloniki. She did her interpreter training in Brussels at ESIT and in the European Parliament where she started working as an interpreter immediately. At the same time I attended a two-year postgraduate degree at ULB University in Brussels on Ancient Multicultural Religions. Later, as a free lance interpreter, she worked in a wide range of conferences in Greece and Europe, for Greek or other EU Ministries, the Greek Parliament, the Presidency of the Republic, GCLG, CUMCG, the European Confederation, NATO, Council of Europe in Strasbourg, OECD, Italian Senate, Interpol, Europol, Eurojust in Hague, European Court of Justice in Luxembourg etc. She was also in the team of interpreters of the Olympics and Paralympics Games in 2004. She’s been working for the last decade as a European Parliament, Council and Commission and lives between Brussels and Rhodes. She is married and a mother of two children.
Maria Triantafyllopoulou. Maria Triantafyllopoulou, comes from Ko, and is a hotelier and winemaker. She has studied TECHNOLOGICAL CIVIL ENGINEER in the field of traffic engineering and irrigation, from HTVTC – HIGH SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY. She speaks English and German. She has served in various positions, including:

Paraskevi-Eleftheria Ftaklaki. Eleftheria Ftaklaki was born in Africa, and has been living in Rhodes since 1974, holding two degrees (‘Political Science’ from NCAF and ‘Humanities’ from Aegean University) as well as a postgraduate degree in International Affairs and International Studies. She is currently completing her doctoral thesis at the University of the Aegean, Department of Sociology. Since 1992 she has been active in the field of Community programs and vocational training, with a rich track in the field of Local Government. Her experience sums up a twenty-year term of office in Rhodes Municipality. Her active engagement with the public began in 2010, initially as the Regional Adviser for European Programs, International Relations and Employment of SAR, as President of the Development Company “ENERGY SA” and in 2013-2014 as Vice-President, International Partnerships and Employment. Since 2014 she has been a major minority regional adviser where she has participated in many SAR committees.
She has been a founding member and President of the Community of SCE’s “Aegean Aroma”. She often participates as a reporter in scientific and political conferences and regularly publishes articles (in local as well as in central print and electronic media such as THE NEWS, Huffington post, etc.) and was a producer and presenter of the weekly television show on the red channel, “Faces in .. Red”. She is a candidate for Dodecanese MP with KINAL.
